Customer consultation on business travel procurement

23 May 2012
A consultation is taking place to develop a new cost-effective business travel solution for the public sector.

Business travel within the public sector costs an estimated £1.5 - £2 billion per year. The sector adopts a wide approach to the booking of travel through various contracted and non-contracted suppliers.

Government Procurement Service and Pro5 already have a framework for travel management companies, which provides an OJEU compliant route for services. However, local authorities and wider public sector customer feedback suggests that the framework does not meet all of their needs. The framework expires in September 2014, and both Government Procurement Service and Pro5 have agreed to work together now to investigate alternative solutions.

Governmnet Procurment Service and Pro5 are currently engaging with customers to develop the collaborative opportunity. The partnership will also enable public sector stakeholders to work with travel specialists to deliver these new solutions. In order to help develop requirements, an initial questionnaire has been produced to collect customer views and ideas.

If you would like to participate, please click here to download the questionnaire and email your completed version to enquiries@pro5.org.
